Welcome to the Monty Python’s Edukational Show Information Page!

Here are all the pertinent details:

Most Important! If you have never worked with Teen Voices, please check out our ABOUT page. Our organization is executively led by adults, but 90+% of the production comes from the minds and hands of our teen actors and teen directors. There WILL be opportunities in tech and design for teens in this production. If you have an interest in those areas but not in acting/student directing, please send an email to teenvoicesdfw@gmail.com to get on our technician/designer list! (Student directors must be 16+)

What is it? Monty Python’s Edukational Show is an 80-minute collection of some of the funniest sketches and songs from Monty Python’s Flying Circus, including classics like “Cheese Shop,” “Homicidal Barber,” “Gumby Flower Arranging," “Lumberjack Song,” “Dead Parrot,” and “The Spanish Inquisition,” all linked together (very tenuously) with a decidedly irreverent "edukational" theme. If you have never heard of Monty Python’s Flying Circus and want to see what their sketches are like, check out the original version of The Argument Clinic here.

When is it? There are four performances (three evening performances and a Sunday matinee), from Thursday, August 12 through Sunday, August 15. Tech week starts the Sunday before, on August 8. Before that, rehearsals will be twice a week, with specific days and times being figured after we have everyone’s conflicts.

Where is it? We will be performing the show at The Cox Playhouse in downtown Plano. Space for rehearsals has not yet been finalized but will likely be in churches or rec centers in Allen and Plano.

Who can do it? Anyone who will be between the ages of 13 and 19 at any time between auditions and the performances. If you are age 13-19 any time between June 2nd and August 15th, you can audition!

How much is it? There is no tuition for this show! It's FREE! If you've worked with us before, you know that we are a frugal bunch, working tirelessly to source costumes in a thrifty manner. We will cover any specialty items, however you are free to buy them if you want to keep them! We will go into greater detail on this as the show progresses.

What about COVID?  All meetings, rehearsals and performances will be in-person – no Zoom! However, we will continue to follow CDC guidance regarding mask wearing and social distancing, both in rehearsal and during any performances.

How do I audition? In-person auditions will be held on Wednesday, June 2 and Thursday, June 3 from 6PM to 8PM in Classroom C at Oak Point Recreation Center, 6000 Jupiter Road, Plano (SE corner of Jupiter and Spring Creek Parkway). Simply click on this link to select which day you will be coming (we’re not doing appointment times) and we’ll see you then!

If you would prefer not to audition in person or cannot attend on one of those dates, you may do a video submission. Simply download a copy of the audition form, pick an audition side or two, and text the recording and completed and signed audition form to 469-920-4404. Please submit this information no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, June 4. Our aim is to have the show fully cast no later than Sunday, June 6.

Questions? Feel free to email us at teenvoicesdfw@gmail.com

We look forward to seeing you!
